Practitioner Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy

If you are looking to further your understanding or to enter into professional practice as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, then this hypnotherapy training is for you. We work with you to build upon the knowledge that you gain on the Certificate in Clinical Hypnosis course and help you explore approaches to effectively, safely and ethically treat the most common symptoms presenting for hypnotherapy. The course is eclectic in nature, so does not stick to one particular theoretical model. The benefit of this is that you will learn to become a well-rounded therapist as you explore analytical, cognitive, behavioural and goal-directed hypnotherapeutic approaches. The buzz-word in therapy today is ‘pluralism’, which means applying the most appropriate approach (or approaches) for your patient, based on their presenting symptom, needs, personality and expectations for therapy. Something our course teaches you to do with confidence.

Course work

Our Practitioner Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy Course (PDCH) consists of ten intermittent weekends, personal tutorials sessions and independent guided study. You will be provided with comprehensive weekend workbooks that deliver the core learnings of the course and contain strategies, theoretical background, hypnosis scripts, references, appendices and ongoing checkpoint activities designed to help you assess your progress.

To enhance your learning experience, you are strongly encouraged to read course material in advance of attending each weekend. In addition, you are also encouraged to carry out wider reading of relevant books and journal articles to broaden your knowledge beyond the course materials. LCCH International graduates pride themselves in their ability to have a broad spectrum of understanding of their subject, one that allows them to effectively communicate with other professionals.

As part of your course requirements, and in accordance with good ethical practice, you are required to join the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis (BSCH). The BSCH is a national professional body whose aim is to promote and assure high standards in the practice of hypnotherapy. As a student member of the BSCH you will also have on-line access to three major hypnotherapy journals: The American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis, Contemporary Hypnosis, and The International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis.

It is also important that, whilst on the course, you have professional indemnity insurance. We are pleased to say that discounted insurance is available through your membership of the BSCH.

Online resources

You will also have access to our online e-learning environment where you can post questions, interact with lecturers and other students on your course. Plenty of resource material is available to download that includes an example assessment essay, audio files and other learning media.

Tutorials continue to form an important and integral part of your training. As with the Certificate in Clinical Hypnosis course, your tutor will check that you fully understand the content of the previous weekend and provide you with a chance to practice techniques learnt, as well as offer helpful guidance for your final exam. Within your tutorial requirement, your tutor will also provide clinical supervision for the case study you will be presenting as part of your PDCH assessment.

On weekend one of your course, you will be given a list of tutors. You will then be responsible for selecting and contacting a tutor – usually in your own area, to meet for an hour’s tutorial at least once after each lecture weekend. A minimum of ten tutorial sessions are required as part of your course and exam structure.
