Working with Pain and Chronic Illness

With an increase in the number of people presenting with conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, fibromyalgia (both categorised as functional syndromes), autoimmune conditions and genetically inherited diseases, medical practitioners are looking to complementary therapies such as hypnotherapy to provide a more integrative, whole-body approach to well-being.

Pain, illness and disease are the body’s way of letting us know that something is wrong; be it physically and/or psychologically. In this evidence-based CPD event you will explore how to work closely with your client to effectively and realistically “change the things that can be changed and to accept the things that cannot…”

A few of the things covered:

  • The many factors that influence our experience of pain
  • Disease: the role of genetics, epigenetics and the exposome
  • The stress/eustress link
  • The mind-body connection
  • Working at the level of emotions, beliefs and self-talk
  • The therapeutic model: a journey back to health
  • Innovative tools, therapy applications and hypnotherapeutic approaches
